7 Canterbury Street in Worcester Becomes New Community Solar Host with Plankton Energy

Plankton Energy has launched a 121-kilowatt community solar project at 7 Canterbury Street in Worcester, Massachusetts, transforming the rooftop of this industrial facility into a platform for clean, affordable energy—bringing economic and environmental benefits to households and small businesses across the region.

Now fully operational, the system is expected to generate approximately 135,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity each year. As a community solar project, it will deliver low-cost energy to participating residents while supporting the expansion of local clean energy infrastructure. The host property will also receive long-term site lease payments, increasing net operating income while contributing to broader sustainability goals.

The project was made possible in part through the Commonwealth’s SMART (Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target) Program, which provides financial incentives to accelerate the deployment of solar technology across the state.
